Default Kayak Skitterwalkin

Well, to be honest, i've only started using topwaters within the past couple months. The first handful of times yielded absolutely zero results which is not a very good way to establish any confidence in a new bait.
Kept at it and finally, when prefishing for the LA1 tourney, was able to land my first red on top. Then another, and another. Within a 30 mins had landed 3 of them. (White with red nose Top Dog Jr)

This week, I went down to pecan island to hunt for some redfish and the water was very clear at the top but had lots of green algae and growth underneath. Any subsurface bait i tried using came back covered in green mess. Decided to go with the topwater again. Whipped out the smaller pink skitterwalk and lets just say, to my surprise, these fish couldn't resist it.

Went on Sunday and landed two reds, an 18' (on the very first cast of the day) and a 25".

Returned today, Wednesday, and had better success.
Landed 5 Reds, photo'd one for an online catch, photo, release tourney (had three spots), kept the other four.
18", 19", 21", 28"

Lessons learned from the "topwater only" day:
- most exciting way to catch a fish is on topwater while standing in the kayak
- you WILL MISS A HANDFUL OF BLOWUPS (super frustrating sometimes)
- bring spare treble hooks to replace damaged ones (happens more than you'd think)
- don't give up during the retrieve during the last 10 yards just because you're ready to recast. Had two huge blowups less then 5 feet from the boat.
- try different sizes. I had much better success with the smaller one and my buddy had trouble getting hook ups with larger trebles.

This broken hook costed me a very nice massive bull red. Fought for a good 10 minutes, got near the kayak, then broke off...
