Captain Adrian Mason has fished the waters around Long Island for his entire life, so he is truly “living the dream” in operating Time Flies Sportfishing in his home waters. His charter business covers back bays to open ocean and everywhere in between, and he is equally adept taking the kids out for a fun day on the water to tangling with shark and tuna offshore.

The season begins in April, when Time Flies is usually found fishing the south shore bays for striped bass, weakfish, and blues. As Capt. Adrian put it, “Nothing kicks off the year like fishing for linesiders in shallow water and watching the fish inhale a fly or soft plastic!”

As the waters warm up, so does the offshore fishing. Shark, Bluefin Tuna, and Mahi Mahi are all within range for some fantastic battles on fly and light tackle gear. Capt. Adrian often starts the morning trolling or casting to tuna, then sets up the chum for shark action in the deep blue sea.

In the fall, Captain Adrian is a regular at the Montauk Yacht Club and considers the “fall run” to be the ultimate Long Island fishing, with fast action for Striped Bass, Albies, and Bluefish. According to Capt. Adrian, “It's a common sight to see acres and acres of fish feeding all at once!”

Captain Adrian proudly pilots a new 500HP Scarab 302 "Big Trouble" that gets guests to the fishing grounds fast, with a stable and comfortable ride. Big Trouble has a forward cuddy to store dry gear or take a break from the action, and Capt. Adrian has it stocked with the best gear available.

Whether you’re in Long Island on vacation or need a break from the big city life in New York City, book a trip with Capt. Adrian Mason and Time Flies Sportfishing and prepare for a great day on the water with a captain who truly loves what he does!
