I didn't find out it was the shell until after the original post. He called me later in the afternoon after he had cut the shells open. But still this is the 3rd xtrema I know of this happening to. Coincidence maybe....I just hear about the low maintenance and reliability of the sbe's. I hunt a lot more than most and I'm hard on my equipment. I don't have the time to be cleaning a gun every couple hunts.

I'm gonna be honest and I love my Benellis. I have M1, SBE, SBE II, and Super Vinci. But you gotta keep em clean at least every few hunts or you may run into problems with hang ups and jams being they are inertia operated. I would say a Beretta is more low maintenance due to gas operation. But they are very reliable if you keep them clean.
