2-5-14 Redfish Bash

It was a chilly morning in Dularge with the passage of the front last night, so I encouraged my customers to take their time getting down here. Cup of coffee at 7:30, got me some nabs and cranked the Duramax. She popped off with a rumble of the straight pipe and at 8:00 on the dot, my girls showed up. Tana and her sister Cara heard tell of the crazy redfish action down here and made the hike from Baton Rouge. Got to Jug's and dumped the Skeeter in the drink and off we went. 5 gallons of gas later, deep in the heart of redfish country, the yamaha slowed to a crawl and down the power pole went. After a brief lesson in casting the Penn Battle 4000's, the duo pitched into a pocket of water 4 feet deep and the reds came a nibblin. 5 fish cleared the gunwales in a matter of minutes. Then the dreaded light switch turned off. Nothing. Nothing. Well, lets move around a little bit, I know their still here. Dropped the I-Pilot and moved around the location a bit finally honing in on another school. The bite was subtle and most of the time the fish would peck at the baits, so it took some concentration on the girls part. They were troopers though and when the smoke cleared, we had our 15 in no time. With the cold wind howling, we made the trek back in before noon. 51 degree water temperature today but the trout didn't make an appearance. These fronts need to quit so things can get into springtime mode real soon. I'm ready to go!
