The engineers that come from the shop know every facet of the job because they used to implement and commission the jobs. We constantly have to redesign, rework, rewire, replan jobs from these desk jockey engineers with degrees simply because they ain't never been in the field. Sounds like you are on a very high horse. I don't know you but if you've never worked with an "engineer" that came out of the shop, then you really don't know what you're talking about. They are by far the best there is. No high horse here, to me and trust me a lot of companies if you do not have an engr degree you are not an engineer. I work with several guys that know a lot of technical / mechanical stuff with tower internals due to their years in field but they are not engineers.
