Fishing for reds in the grass

I am looking for advice on how to best fish for reds when they are in the grass. Grass is too thick to fish under a cork or tight line plastic cocohoes. Don't know the name of the grass but it looks a lot like coon tail moss or hydrilla in fresh water.
