Well, I finally stopped fishing long enough to go and test the new 25hp Suzuki. It is all they say and more.
Took a brand new unit out of the box, put it on a 1548, 100 gauge, flat bottom, AlWeld.
Connected fuel line, no choke?????WHAT, how is it ever gonna start? Pulled rope, on the second pull, the motor sits there silently idling, quietest motor I have ever not heard.
Ran the stock 11 pitch aluminum prop with 1 person, 2.7 second plane time, 8 second 0-25mph, topped out at 31 mph at 5700 rpm, put a 240 pound man in the boat with me, ran 29 mph lost 2-300 rpm, motor too high to run that prop.
Put a 13 powertech on it boat slowed down. Motor still too high. Prop blows out before you can get the nose trimmed up where it would really like to run.
Final analysis, this is the king of the new 25's on the market. Best hole shot I have seen from the current 25's, ranks right next to the old 3 cylinder Suzuki 2 strokes. Yea, I know most of you guys are running 40 plus mph with the old 2 strokes but we like to test in real life conditions, face it, very few of us fish with one rod and a ziplock bag of worms. We actually add weight to our marsh rigs, hence the 240 pound passenger.
I would love to test it on a much lighter hull, we could hit some of those fantasy numbers
Before you ask, I do not know the cost, it is 3 cylinder, battery-less fuel injected, 136 pound, 2.09 gear ratio, 29.9 cubic inch.D
