Requesting help

My Story,

I grew up on the water. I remember waking my dad up to go fishing at a young age. Now I have 3 young kids and have been trying to get them to share the same enthusiasm as me for a while now with not much success. Trying to get them out of the house and off the video games. Recently they have been showing more interest and I am trying to exploit it. Because my wife is not working, pursuing her RN degree, money has been extremely tight. I have a kayak and fish from that when I don't have the kids. I enjoy the Lake Charles area, but come from Lafayette. Recently me and the kids have made a few trips with the only success being from Holly beach. Normally only able to catch one or two bull reds. This Saturday I am taking just my oldest and would like to put him on a few slot reds but don't know where to start looking from them. we are limited to fishing from the bank. Any pointers on where I could try would be appreciated. I get gun shy sometime because I don't want to end up on private property. Not looking for someone's honey hole. just want to grow the interest of the kids.

Thanks in advance.
