I fished the last three days with Rick Hunley's crew from Kansas. All three days were forecasted to have a 100% chance of rain. The first day was the only we got wet though so the guys were very lucky. We fished from the interior marsh to the lakes. Trout are everywhere but nowhere in big numbers. We moved around a lot finding fish at pretty much every stop. From points, cuts, and flats they all produced. The trout bite isn't where we want it to be but the transition has begun and will only get more consistent. Now that the cold seems to be over the next thing we get to complain about is the wind and that will go thru April. The trout only wanted the Shrimp Creole Matrix under a cork worked slow. A lot of the trout had some minor sores from laying in the mud all winter. Out of the three days the last day was the best over all. After grinding out the trout we turned our attention to the reds. Found a cove with water pushing in and they were stacked. Bait shrimp on the bottom all in a 20-25 foot circle. With the water temperature at 65 we don't usually see them stacked up like that but we weren't complaining. Looks like we have some nice weather for this weekend so hopefully everyone can get out and have a good time.
