Cheers reefs out of the point

Saturday trout report

headed out of Quintana at 6am and boated straight to the spot. water very salty, winds slight out of the west, water green and clear 5 out of 7, very clear, moon under foot around 1230pm, high tide early, moving slowly incoming then outgoing and slack again till about noon. got on them late morning and found them near the bank at the small reef. caught 10 big 2-4lb speckled trout, lost 2 more at boat, one large flounder, 7 big gaffs, 5 sharks, a couple of them 4ft long and mad, lost a 19 lb bull red that the boat caught right next to me after I fought him for like 8 minutes when the hook just came out, 20 minutes later the boat right next to me caught him and weighed him. presentation was live, dead shrimp under a rattle cork, Carolina rigged and popping a 1/8 jig off bottom with a fresh shrimp on it. not a bad morning at all. also saw a large school of sting rays at the big reef at least 15 of them, was pretty cool to see them swim literally right next to the boat....

tight ones
