It is a common operating procedure for scam artists to claim to be married when they are not married.
Is one a douchebag to suggest that when one finds one misrepresentation of facts, it may be a good idea to be on the lookout for others? There is nothing wrong with looking for charity. There is nothing wrong with fact checking when weighing whether to give and how much to give.
