LDWF is taking comments on proposed regulations that would ban the importing in the state everything but de-boned meat, antlers and finished mounts. The way I read the proposed regulations, all of us that hunt out of state (Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, etc.) would have to de-bone all of our meat, and couldn't bring back a trophy to let a local taxidermist mount it, as that would violate the regulations.
While I realize this is likely in response to CWD showing up in certain parts of Texas and Arkansas, these are broad regulations that, unless I'm missing something, would put a serious hit on LA taxidermists and require you do all you trimming out of state.
