if you worried about price try your local feed store, the food we get for my wifes 2 dogs is much cheaper there than pet smart or petco

We have fed science diet to our dogs for a few years.
Was what the vet recomended . But Cost is not an issue when feeding chihuahuas.

Eukanuba is w/o a doubt one of the best out there! It is also $$$$$$!

With that said, I find Diamond dog food great, and just as good, but cheaper! I pay $26.00 for a 40lb. bag, I think!

That's good food. The only reason I don't feed it anymore is that the feed store went out of business. Nothing around the house carry's it.

Diamond dog food is a great alternative...the vet will usually push whatever brand they use, but the ingredients in Diamond are comparable to some of the big name brands without the big $$$$$...40 lbs for 27.99 @ Tractor Supply...We also have a monster chocolate @ 110 lbs and he loves this dog food...we use to use ProPlan, but he's such a horse, we tried the Diamond and have stayed with it ever since...

Here's a recipe to help add weight a lot of breeders use...be careful with how much you give her...this stuff is highly fattening and will put it on her quick...at that weight, she's about the right size for a female...Start her out with just a little at a time to make sure this won't upset her stomach...It's got ingredients she ain't going to be use to, so best to take it slow...

Peanut Butter Fat Balls

• 2 cups dry dog food
• 2 packs cream cheese
• 1½ cups Peanut Butter
• ½ cup corn oil or sunflower oil
• 1 cup cottage cheese
• 1 lb raw (or lightly browned) beef mince (with grease)

1. Blend dog food until finely crushed, and add remaining ingredients. Mix until you have a doughy lump. Add more dog meal as needed if mixture is too thin.
2. Roll out into a log shape on waxed paper. Refrigerate and slice as needed, or form into ping pong sized balls.

This can be fed a slice or two at a time several times a day. It is very high in calories so should put weight on fairly quickly, and if the beef is lightly cooked it shouldn't be too hard on your dog's stomach. The best beef to use is the really cheap stuff, because it is so high in fat.

i feed my lab pmi I get it at the feed store next to holliers in sulphur. http://www.pminutrition.com/rf_brand.html. I feed him 3 cups a day and use the red flannel PRIME during offseason and put him on PMI Exclusive during hunting season the 30/20 mix. If he starts slimming down I feed him a 4th cup but never more.

I have a 13 week old lab and feed her science diet puppy large breed. 4 cups day. It's good for bones and optimal growth in a large breed puppy.

True the recall was years ago but, the company did not handle their problem like they should have. I know of no breeders or kennels that will use Diamond again, ever! My preference is Pro Plan Preformance by Purina but most dogs do not need the high preformance dog food that working dogs require. Eukanuba is also an excellent dog food that I would feed if they had a Pro program to offset the price like Purina does.

Petsmart has the Pro Plan Preformance for $38.99 per bag and if you shop Petco you can tell them to give you the Petsmart price match of $38.99.

My roommate feeds royal canin to his lab he's trainin for ducks. Its more palatable than purina 1. But its also more expensive. If money isnt an issue I'd feed nutro, eukanuba, or the royal canin. If it is my lab eats purina 1 and likes it just fine. In one of my animal science classes at LSU one of the feeds professors spoke and she said that you mainly wanna make sure you have a diet that isnt corn based which makes sense because they're naturally carnivores and thats what their bodies are lookin for.

I dont know anything about Diamond. Where do you guys usually buy it? If what ya'll say about the price holds true, sounds like id wanna switch
