When my house was ~ 3 years old.......we found lots of mildue on the bottom of the bathroom cabinet. I took the cabinet out and took the sheet rock off the wall.

What I found was that this is where the main water pipe came up from under the slab and then tee'd off to each bathroom, kitchen, etc.

But what caused my water leak, was the sheet rock installation. When the sheet rock was installed [~ 3 years eariler] one of the screws missed the 2x6 board and hit one of the copper water pipes and damaged the pipe. Why it took so long to "show up" is a mystery. This leak was more of a slow drip that did it's damage over a period of time.

Same thing happened to me but it was a quick an easy fix since it was right behin some vinyl siding.
