You don't need to use it, but it's available if you choose to do so. I already have a mobile theme installed for folks using phones, Blackberry devices, iPhones, etc., but TapaTalk is specifically designed for vBulletin (the forum software I use) so it includes some options that my mobile theme can't, such as direct uploading of pictures from an iPhone, editing your posts, etc. It's up to you whether you choose to use it or continue to use the standard mobile theme I have available currently. There are screenshots of what a forum looks like on TapaTalk in the first post of this thread. I believe there is also a lightweight free trial version you can download before paying the $3 if you just want to test it out. I'm sure they have some of the functionality disabled in the free version, but I'm not sure.
