I ride in boats daily and trust me,you dont want a 150 fourstroke on a 22 foot boat.Get yourself a 225 opti or hpdi and you will be much more happy.

Ray I saw it too as I was leaving the landing. It was parked on the side road by a camp....pretty color....looked to be a very dark blue. Those are nice boats. I would assume a 24' would run you $50K easily.

He will be crying when that storm is coming and that MERC will not start. I think when you buy a MERC it automatically comes with one year free of SEATOW and a marine radio...Also, going an extra 5-7 mph faster will save you what 2-3 minutes over a 10 miles stretch.

Really if I ever owned a MERC it would be an Optimax. I just think Yamaha is a better motor. Most guides and people that run crab traps have Yamaha 4 strokes. This should tell you something since they are on the water basically every day. The 4 stroke Yamaha 150 is a lot more powerful/work horse motor than you would think and it is very, very quiet!

I have a 19' Cobia bay boat with a 150 Yahama 4 stroke. It runs 50 mph wide open with me and the wife, full of gas, eats and drinks, and about 43 mph loaded with me and Jfranovich(BIG ole country boy), 3 full ice chests, and supplies for an all day fishing trip.
I run about 35 mph at 4500 rpms fully loaded. She gets on top step o.k., but not like my old boat with a 2 cycle Mercury.
But my fuel economy is pretty great compared to my old 2 cycle Mercury.
I can talk to anyone fishing with me when running at any speed. The Yamaha is a super quiet motor.
My boat doesn't have rolled sides, she has the liner. She weighs 1960 lbs. dry, without engine.
I got her because it was one of the few boats that would fit in my car port and it had a 60 gal. gas tank.
I don't know now well a 150 would push a 22 ft'er, unless it is a light boat.

Plus taxes and registration?
I live in Lake Charles(9% tax) and it killed me when they added the taxes and registration. When I lived in Cameron, we only had a 4% tax.
My Cobia was $27K and it ended up being $30K after titling the trailer, registering the boat and fokking me with the 9% tax.
