Here's Jared's link
" In all border waters, except the Gulf of Mexico, Texas and Louisiana anglers possessing the necessary resident licenses, or those exempted from resident licenses for their state, are allowed to fish the border waters of Louisiana and Texas without purchasing non-resident licenses. Border waters include Caddo Lake, Toledo Bend Reservoir, the Sabine River and Sabine Lake." http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/license...and-exemptions |

The key words are: along the Border [of the river, lake, etc.] If you stay in the main river.....all you need is a licence from the state where you launched your boat. You can not go up into any kind of cut or marsh on the opposite side of the river......if you don't have a licence for that state. That is my understanding of the LA and TX laws. |

If you launch on the Texas side of Toledo Bend, don't you have to abide by their possession laws? Maybe i'm wrong, but isn't it a 5 bass limit on the Texas side vs 8 on the La. side?

Whatever side you launch from dictates the laws that you must abide by, regardless of which license(s) you hold.
On Sabine (SW) you can fish the entire lake with either license, but like someone else mentioned, with a TX license your boundary limit is the LA bank - i.e. you can not go into the bayous and channels…I presume the law is the same for LA licenses in the fact that you are limited to the main lake... |

Toledo Bend is an exception to this rule. Anywhere in Toledo Bend is accessible to fishermen from either state. The bag limit is a compromise between the two states and that is 8 bass 14" or longer.

If you have both, they cancel each other out and you can't fish, lol, just joking. If you have both, there is nothing to worry about.

You can fish either with either license you just cant enter into bayous , cuts etc on either side. Texas and LA just passed new legislation that all waters that are bordered by either state have the same fisihng laws now size, numbers, everything. This line starts at the I-10 bridge on the sabine river anything south of there is just like the old laws were. Texas and LA have seperate laws south of I-10 concerning fish
