go to your local tire shop and they probly will sell you or give you a 5 galloon bucket of old tire weights

My buddy would go to southern scrap & get 50lb blocks, they melt down the tire weights & remove all steel clips, much easier!

Scrap yard would be good. My cousin owns one here in LC and my grandpa goes there to get lead to make bb's for his skeet load reloads

IF you are making strap weights dont use the tire weights .The lead is too hard and the weights will break when you bend them.
