I bought a wood duck box and put it up on a tree near my grandma's pond. Should I expect them to find it this year or is it more likely they will use it next year?

By the way, did you have a camera setup to take pics automatically, or did you just catch them "jumping"?

Christine took the pictures, we had estimated the time they would jump...she waited for 5 mornings in a blind near the box to finally catch them jumping.... 5 mornings for 1 minute of pictures.....

They could use it this year, but probably more likely next year. Be sure and get it ready next year, watch out for wasp, and put in some nesting material, wood shavings, no sawdust....

Thanks for the reply. I have the wood shavings in there already, but I'm sure I'll have to clean them out before next season. It looks like the wood ducks I saw on my grandma's pond are nesting somewhere else.
