I have not been in Hog Island Gully in several years....but yes it is safe to run in it.
Except....... about 1/2 mile from the ship channel there is a cut that goes into West Bay. Somewhere in that area there is a post [iron ???] that was used to tie up a boat when Rita came through. I don't know if this post is still there.
