2 huge bucks fight to death

Here are some pics of 2 brutes which were fighting for dominance and the bigger of the 2 lost the battle. My brother works as a wildlife officer who handles nuisance and injured animals for the province, yes the ideal job. He was called out by a local farmer who found these 2 bucks tangled together with 1 of them dead and the other on the verge of dying. He had to dart the 1 which was still alive (he is kneeling beside it) and cut the antlers in order to unsnarl them. The deer could not get up even after he came too as he was too spent. In Nova Scotia, Canada we are not allowed to interfere with wildlife and must allow nature to takes its course. My brother had to leave the buck where it was and hope it could get enough energy to survive. The happy ending was when he went back the next day, the buck was gone with evidence he had walked away ok. It is a tragic story for the bigger buck which did not survive the fight as it was a great loss to the gene pool in that area. Here are the pics they took while rescuing the bucks...
