Do you have more information? My first thought is that the boat is stolen without knowing more information.

No the boats not stolen, it was given to a friend of mine by his Moms boyfriend from out of state. He's long gone now and no real way to get in touch with him. I was thinking of buying the boat, but I wanted to know what I'd be getting myself into before hand.

Don't Buy it!
If it was free you could TRY to get a title. But don't spend any $$$ on it. Most folks give up on trying to get titles because of all the hoops you have to jump thru only to be told no.

It's a pain in the @&&. I did it with neighbors boat who's dad passed. Had to get power of attorney and stuff to transfer it. But what you are saying would be even harder.

LW&F will NOT issue new boat numbers without the previous owners registration. There is a simple work around if you know somebody who lives in Mississippi. Mississippi will issue a new boat registration with just a hull number and notarized bill of sale. You would need to "sell" the boat to somebody you know in MS, let them get it registered, then "sell" it back to you. Now you have a registered boat and can get a new boat registration here in Louisiana.

Good luck.
