That's why people buy and build in subdivisions, so their neighbor can't do something like that. You may not really care but when it becomes time to sell your house, prospective buyers might not like it and that translates into fewer buyers considering your house.

Thats the other twist to this whole mess is they are selling their house. I would rather make the neighbors we have now mad rather than the new neighbors.
