Get a Dexter-Russell http://www.dexter-russell.com/Item_D...id=476&line=SG , our local Hardware store carries them, They about $20-30. Keeps an edge and easy to sharpen. My wifes uncle is retired and fishes catfish for extra money and to pass his time and its all he uses. He doesn't skin his catfish either, he filets everything.

Get a dexter. Cheeper and better then a bubba. You can fillet a red in one slice. As well as snapper or sheepshead. Great all around fillet knives.

I have found that the Mister Twister Saltwater Piranha w/11" blade works well filleting redfish and the like!

I have a gerber filet knife, a Rapala filet knife and dexter, I got a rapala electric knife its good for trout but gets hot fast I also don't like the curved blades on it, and I got 2 saltwater mr. twisters.

Dexter makes a sharpener. Don't know if or how well it works though.

I stole my wife's Hamilton Beach and it fillets dang good.

Agree. I been using hamilton beach now for 2 years and work awesome. I got 4 of them- cut like butter. I got several mister twister and motors seem to be getting weaker and weaker. Opened one out of package last week and motor kept bogging down- switched to hamilton beach and worked great.

Well what I do is throw all the redfish back. Has really really prolonged the life of my electric knife. Only clean flounder and trout now. Better eating fish than reds anyway.

I agree but I have to clean them during duck season at the camp...hate'em frickin Kevlar
