Ive caught alot of sand trout. And this def wasnt a sand trout. Didnt look like a trout at all really. Sand trout look identical to specs w/o the spots basically. This looks nothing like them.

Nah bc ive caught them too... This doesn't have teethe like a trout either... Looked more like some kind of perch

We call them butter fish. A real pain when fishing live shrimp

Looks like a silver perch ( Bairdella Chrysura). Some folks call them yellow tails. They have a sharp gill covering which can get you if your'e not careful. Bentup

never seen one but looks to be what MG stated.
Its not a whiting, which is also called a channel mullet, which is also said to be really good to eat |
