Tournament Motor Problem Update
Well today I hooked up the scuppers to flush the engine since I didn't have time yesterday. About 10 seconds after cranking up, gas started pouring out the cowling. I took off the cover and didn't see anything. Started up again and saw gas spewing from a gas line. It appears that a moving part had rubbed a nasty gash in a fuel line. I will replace the line and put some sort of reinforcement around it. I hope this is all the fix I need. |

Sounds like a good time to replace all your lines while your in there

Yep, cheap insurance. Especially with all the ethanol issues. I did mine last year

Also make sure they fuel line you use does not have a liner inside the mail line. It will fall apart eventually clogging your fuel system. Mercury's lines are built like that, pure garbage. I use ethanol rated black fuel line from a parts store like oreillys.

Motor was overhauled last year, I would assume the lines were changed then, but was before I got it. All damage was external from parts rubbing on it while throttling. I am going to change them all I'm sure.

On another note, I only fuel it up at the non ethanol station by my house. That stuff sucks.

I have a ethanol test kit and you would be shocked how many advertise non ethanol and it's in there. Better safe than sorry get the ethanol lines.

I though it was against the law to sell ethanol gas with out a sticker on pump.

The place I go is American owned, I trust them.

There should be an A-1 rating stamped on the lines for hoses rated for ethanol. I'd go to a hose and rubber shop to make sure.
