Wow, thanks for posting. This is a first in my Salty Cajun experience, as I will ask my wife to add the letter to my children's home school curriculum.

They are currently studying some of the late 19th and early 20th century labor issues and movements, and I had become a bit uncomfortable with how their book and the assigned questions seems to be judging practices of many decades ago by 21st century labor values.

The letter gives both historical perspective and a nice balance when considering legitimate issues that needed to be addressed (most of which had been addressed by post WWII) and the excesses of the labor movements when they merely wanted more and more pay and benefits for less and less work.
