You could try mounting the small puck to a piece of aluminum plate, then mounting the aluminum plate using the holes you already have. You'd have to account for the screw heads sticking up, or use a piece of aluminum plate that is thick enough to use counter sunk flat head screws. Otherwise the TM part of the quick release bracket might not fit flush, and then you won't be able to get the handle/lock to fit in the holes.

Oh and I would definitely recommend using toggle bolts to mount the puck or plate to the boat. I tried using those rubber well nuts from motorguide. That damn ipilot kicks in hard when it wants to keep you anchored. Ripped the rubber well nuts almost all the way out. I had a rope tied to the TM and the bow cleat for good measure.

p.s. I got the stainless toggle bolts at west marine. About $30 for 4. I think the packaging had them being used to mount chairs to boat decks.
