if the goal is truly fishing and not just having fun, why not just use a remote control boat to carry your bait out to where you want it and it will be in must better condition when it arrives there?

no need to seal your bait in ice and blast it off into space to get it far enough out there and as someone mentioned, if your line gets tangled or wrapped around the pole it can be a very bad situation.

there are durable remote control boats that can take rough water and have good range for the controls so I think its a good alternative.
You obviously have never met MG. He's an awesome dude just smarter than all of us combined. Over thinking stuff is his job. If he wants to do it it will be done.

well in that case the pumpkin launchers get things to go over 1 mile in the air so that could be a source for inspirational ideas lol.

they use different staged compressed gas injectors to increase the pressure and speed as it passes through the barrel and if the pumpkins stay in tact after launch then the bait should as well
