Also a friend says we can go flounder gigging on Elmer's island near the pass but that seems a bit dangerous with the smaller grand kids. If there was a quiet flat I would like that better I think. I am not very familiar with the area as I have only been fishing there once and I kept finding too shallow areas in the bay. We mostly fished outside the pass near the rocks down the beach. Maybe we can go to some near platforms in our 19 ft whaler. I trust the boat more than my boat handling skills.

there is a protected bay behind elmers on the grand isle side that is good for floundering, it is safe just have to watch for soft mud and sting rays
