I have a 686 onyx that will see it's 19 season this year......I've hunted everything from Onion Lake off the Vermillion to the mouth of the river......where I spend most my hunting days in fact...... It's been a paddle, a push pole, and several times a dog taming device...... I clean my gun before I clean my ducks....... IMO that the fihish is indeed better on the newer guns.......but there are thousands of guns killing millions of ducks that are wood..... It's an age thing I think.......my son's gun safe is full of plastic and black guns that do not shine.........mine is full of classic wood guns...... No disrespect at all........just what I be likin for years
