I use willow and cypress branches. No weight. I cut a 3 ft length bellow a y in the branch. I hook the y with a push pole and push the 3ft length in the mud as far as I can. I put about 10 in a circle. I put them in less than 10 fow. Me and a friend have a few that have been there for years. We go a couple of times a year on his pontoon boat and sink a few. We cut as much as we can safely haul on the boat and go a bend or 2 and sink them. We do everything on the water. I know people that do the same with bambo. The trick is to place them out of the current.
