Same here in GC. 7 limits both days with B/G teal making most of the bag. 2 Greys to 4 teal per limit. Better than expected considering the flood waters. Saw huge groups of teal and Greys heading to the reserve each morning. I'm not a fan of this early opening. Almost had heat stoke Friday afternoon putting out dekes and brushing a blind. One week makes a huge difference in duck #s and weather.

I agree, Friday was rough.

Look at the forecast this week. This weekend would have been an amazing opener and hopefully all this north wend will push some water out.

5 limits Sat & 5 limits yesterday around Mud Lake. Majority gads both days. Almost no teal Sat in our marsh, and saw zero divers. Yesterday a good bit of teal showed up, and saw a few groups of red heads. Best opener that blind has had in years. Usually see a good bit of pins and a ton of scaup out there, but didn't see either both days. Finished brushing and put dekes out Friday and literally saw 0 ducks out there... without the front my report would be much different I believe.

Ditto. I wish one year they would back it up to whenever everybody thinks it should be and listen to everyone complain about it opening too late lol.

They will always complain. I wish they had good logs on dates and weather. To many face painters and bounce the hen

Not complaining here. I understand the date move, understand the warm temps, and also the high water. Not to say that I agree with the move, but I had great hunts with everyone getting their limits. 7 man limits in Saturday / Sunday hunts half grey and the other teal. Teal were split 50/50 green to blue.

Partner did get a summer mallard with jewelry! He was stoked.

We killed only 4 opening weekend down in JB. TON of water. We moved the floor of the blind up a foot from last year and there was 4 inches of standing water in the blind. Them birds were scattered. Doesn't matter though, it's always a good time being in the marsh, birds or no birds.

Hunted in the Henry area and we had our best opening morning in years.
Shot 23 BW teal and 1 redhead hen.

Hunted Pecan Island on Sunday and shot our 3 limits pretty quick. 12 BWT, 4 GWT and a pair of greys.

Opening weekend has been before the 10th Three out of the last Four years. The early dates are tough but it seems the water is the main factor in the poor opening weekend.

Nah man, DU made it difficult, not the water.

We had the same exact bag both saturday and sunday in GC, although Sundays limit could have come way more fast than it did. 1 grey, 2 spoonies and the rest mix of teal...It was tough but we managed to put a 7yr old on his first duck with a 410. Had a great weekend.
