Thanks for the heads up. Some of our teens have shot the FPR match before at Palo Alto. They prefer the approved F-Class match on the first Sat of the month.
After my daughter looked like she was going to win the FPR match one month, they seemed to change the rules mid stream and required her to load multiple rounds in the magazine at the FPR match, instead of magazine feeding one at a time like she had been doing. It seemed fishy that after competing in that match several times loading one at a time (from the magazine), they would try and make her load three at a time only after she was in a position to win or place.
Eventually they changed the written rules from
C. Repeater style actions only (blind or detachable magazines). Must be loaded and fired from the magazine.
to
C. Repeater style actions only (blind or detachable magazines). Must be loaded and fired from the magazine. Blind/detachable magazine must be loaded to capacity, and then fed from during the course of fire. Rounds cannot be single fed from the magazine.
We consider this change the "I'm not gonna let my guys get beaten by a teenage girl" rule. The rule was not changed in writing until AFTER.
It doesn't impact our family, but others should note that the FPR match also has more restrictive bipod rules than F-TR:
D. Rifle must be fired off a bipod, rigidly attached to the rifles forend or sling. Bipod must be folding leg design commercially manufactured and will be included in rifles overall weight.
It's a great match, to be sure, but my teens have not been eager to return after this perceived mistreatment.
My teens also like the electronic scoring at Talladega (no pit duty) and the fact that there was no shenanigans when it started to look like they would finish in the money.
