I remember hearing of some small boat fishing around choupique bayou, a little north of hackberry.
Also the canals feeding into west cove (as mentioned above).

I drop my 14 x 48 in West Cove canal and am in West Cove in 5 minutes if that. If its to windy in West Cove you can travel maybe 1/2 mile from the boat ramp and hook a left into the marsh.

I fish choupique a lot also. Catch a lot of reds and flounder. Specks at times as well.
