My express is built very similar to the alweld. In my personal opinion, it's almost always worth jacking up. That does change with prop selection. With the SCB or the Yamaha prop, you can run your cavitation plate 1-1.5" above the bottom of boat. Less motor in the water, less drag, better performance.
