Can someone help me understand Whats the difference btw the player not standing or kneeling......... AND
the people at home watching the game..who sitting on their sofa or people sitting down at the bar........... what makes the players wrong and the person sitting at their house, bar, right? Who get a pass and who doesnt. If you stand up at your house for the national anthem and hold your hand on your heart every monday and sunday sometimes thursdays games. Please say i. That way we know you are not being disrespectful to the flag? If you dont stand up then what are you saying about yourself...... Are you boycotting your friends that sitting down during the anthem at you house. Ill wait. This should be good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You never answered the main question about YOU. Do you stand up or dont stand up
Do you get a pass and friends get a pass or they get the same treatment like the players Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Totally different scenario from watching at home or being in the stadium. If I would be watching it live in the stadium there's no chance in hell that I would be doing anything other than standing up with my hand over my heart in respect for the men and woman who fought/fight and died for my freedom. I'm all for peoples rights to protest even if our beliefs aren't the same on the subject being protested but these guys can protest on their own damn time without throwing the country and our armed forces and our flag a big F U!

My son is an Airman 1st class in the greatest Air Force in the world and stands ready to protect our freedom.
I respect the right of people to protest and express their views. Freedom of speech protects people from government retribution, but I don't have to agree with them or support them or their endeavors. Alphaman, in the presence of raising the flag, the anthem and the lowering of colors I stand with my hand over my heart. At home I guess I never really thought about standing but I put my hand over my heart and we don't talk or do other things while the anthem is performed on TV. I would rather see folks who believe strongly about something work to fix the problem, especially if they have the platform and the means. Since we're talking about the NFL, JJ Watts actions in Houston are exemplary. Finally, with no disrespect aimed at anyone but as a challenge to everyone I cite this article from the NY Daily News in March 2016. Did this black life matter (all involved are African-Americans)? "Three suspected gang members who executed a 9-year-old boy in Chicago initially wanted to kidnap the child and cut off his fingers and ears, authorities said Tuesday. A 22-year-old man who cops say pulled the the trigger was charged with first-degree murder late Monday in the death of little Tyshawn Lee. Tyshawn was targeted because of his father's gang affiliation and a recent series of shootings between two rival gangs, the Gangster Disciples and the Black P Stones." |

You knew the answer to that question before your even asked it. I admit most probably don't stand at attention at home, and from the admission of the major media outlets, most would not get a chance, because they were going to commercials when the Anthem was being played, before all this started! Now the major media outlets think it's a great idea to show it????? Can you say agenda??????? I do not feel unequal to anyone, but I can guarantee you that if I wanted to express myself on any topic it would NEVER make it to live TV on a national level!!!!!!! I wonder why the media and the supporters of this fine upstanding role model who they claim started this, are not concerned or fighting for the young lady whose rights were violated by this same individual and a couple of his buddies a few years ago???????????? Hypocrites! |

Yes you may actually know why.....but we are still trying to figure out why Will i get equal treatment if we commit the same crime? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

In all honesty I do not stand . That's because in all my years I have never caught the beginning of a game . I have never watched another team except the saints . I have bought saints items and have numerous saints tee shirts that I will trash . I do belong to an organization and we have 2 meetings a month and pledge to the flag and sing the national anthem and there will be only one place to pass if you take a knee . I have nothing against people protesting for what they believe but to me if you take a knee to protest during the national anthem you are protesting your country . These people believe all the crap the news media is spreading cause they hate our Pres. They are the ones dividing our country .

So would alphaman's argument be considered a straw man or an ad hominen fallacy? He's definitely misrepresenting the argument to make it easier for him to discredit (straw man), but he is also attacking the other side's character instead of the content of their argument (ad hominen)..... Guess we can call it a compound fallacious argument. Either way, it's a ridiculous comparison and doesn't even warrant a response. Nice try though.

Im just trying to make the argument equal by including us in the argument and not 1 group of people. Doesn't that make us equal or it doesnt? We are human right. We both can hear the anthem and see the flag right? At home or in the stadium am i not correct. If im wrong please explain you answer. Im asking questions, no arguments here. and no one but me answered the main question? Do you stand up or you dont stand up. If we are suppose to be all equal. Then why are we not treated equal. Lol .... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by alphaman; 09-27-2017 at 02:38 PM. |

argument: (noun) a coherent series of reasons, statements, or facts intended to support or establish a point of view
See the above definition for argument..... You are obviously on the side of those kneeling and therefore are "arguing" your position is an attempt to support your point of view. Your question, however, is completely off base and irrelevant to the original topic. Attempting to compare/shame the opposition for not standing at their house while the national anthem is playing over the television is no where near the same as someone who is representing their employer, their city, their state, and one could argue their country since apparently there is nothing more American than football (I wholeheartedly disagree with that assertion). That's probably why you are the only one answering your ridiculous question, but if it makes you happy, no. I do not watch football to begin with and if the national anthem were to play over my television, I probably wouldn't perform the same rituals that are expected from any decent American who is present for the anthem. However, if I were there in person, I absolutely would stand and pay respect to my country's flag and anthem. I honestly have no clue as to the relevance of the "equal" comment, so I won't comment on that. |
