The hydraulic steering is sweet. Can't wait to solve the prop issue and really test drive it. Also, I need a few white caps to really see what she will do.
You need to see what the top RPM is. You should be able to reach manufacturers top RPM. If not, you need to change the prop to get there.
If you are slipping at take off, you can talk to a prop guy and get a little cup put on it instead of buying a new one.
I have a 14 X 19, 4 blade.

Default Prop

I'm basing my prop selection on numerous bulletins found on the yamaha website for bay boats and the 150 hp. The heavy boats use a 17'' pitch, and lighter boats use a 19''-20'' pitch on boats similar to mine. Yes, I will consult a prop guy before buying a used prop. I can't use the one now because I think it is completely the wrong prop. The size of the hub doesn't match the motor. It has a smaller diameter. I had a 200 Yam on my old boat which is basically the same motor I have now. The prop is way to small-- my guess it may be for a smaller motor (115?) All I know it is gonna be taken off.
