A local bar owner here in BR decided to go smoke free back in 2013 . he talked to all his customers and the big majority were all for it. He said he may have lost 2 -3 regular folks but the gains when the word got out that he was smoke free made it very worthwhile.

I'm kind of in the fence on this one. I don't smoke and I hate going home smelling like an ashtray or people blowing their smoke in my face like its no big deal, but part of me agrees with Crab. It should be the business owner's decision.

one of the main reasons i dont go to casinos is because of the smoke. Some people may not go because they can't smoke but I think that lost business will be offset by nonsmokers going more.

I think it should be left up to the business owner

dont be so willing to celebrate a business owner losing their right to run his business as he sees fit. Soon we'll be like New York city....one freedom at a time. I don't smoke and never did, but if a guy takes a chance with his money to start a business and determined he can make more with smokers, more power to him...that is called freedom, inalienable right...last time I checked that was still in the constitution.

They still have the freedom to walk outside and smoke.

And you have the freedom to buy a pool table and stay home and drink. Sorry to be such a smart a$$ but why should big bro have to regulate this. Business owner can decide to make it smoke free if they want to, or a smoking establishment. I am afraid that you are in the minority though. This is why most bars, unless mandated, allow smoking.

Obviously your smoking something right now....it's not the smokers freedom to go outside it's the owners right to allow people to smoke....it's HIS freedom to run his business....

I'm mixed on it honestly. I see the argument of it should be the business owners right, but this could very easily be argued as a public health issue. Non-smokers are just as likely to get lung cancer because of cigarette smoke as a smoker is. So if you spin this as a public health issue, is it any different than requiring a restaurant to maintain certain health standards? I mean, no one ever argues that Darrell's or Kyoto's should be able to do whatever they want in their kitchen, because it's a health issue. |

Nothing goes better with a good buzz than a cigrit
I don't smoke inside though when I want one, it pains me. Business owners should make the rules, nobody else. Sent |

People in bars drinking and complaining that smoking is bad for your health. Want to save lives.....ban drinking at bars.
