24 HO or the z21 models are great for big lake. Don't let the short sides scare you off. Great boat and super fast and great in a chop.

I think this is what I'm going to buy with a 200 Yamaha 4 stroke.... 36 volt 101 trust great white trolling motor!!!! should be set up for 10 years with this boat!!!

just my opinion, but everyone I've talked to said the yamaha 200 4 stroke isn't a great motor. Thats why I went with the 150 4 stroke on my frontier. @00 is much heavier with not much better performance. Now that boat with the 200 HPDI would move! I wish I had put that engine on my frontier!
But I promise you will not be disappointed with that boat. |

Its rated for a 225 you think that 150 would handle...

150 would push it good. I cruise at about 36 and top out around 50 with me and one person.
Chris at Haynie is a Mercury dealer. I'd put the 200 or 225 optimax on it! |

CMDROST, I agree with you. The Yamaha 200 4 stroke is almost 100 pounds heavier than the HDPI 2 stroke. The 150 4 stroke and 200 HPDI have basically the same weight. I really do not see too many 200 4 strokes on the water but I see a lot of 225 and 250.

225 opti on the Z21 no doubt
boat is designed with a pad for a lighter stronger motor to lift it up |

If you are going to go with a 2 stroke I would go with the YAMAHA 200 HPDI over any MERC. However if I would ever get a Merc I would get the Optimax.

I would put the 225 optimax for sure.

i'm going to show my ignorance. i never heard of haynie until this thread started. what makes them so special compared to the others (pathfinder, champion, etc.)? how are they priced compared to the others too?
