Worst thing to do is "NOT" give them consent.

Me and a buddy (current cop) were pulled over a while back (few months ago) going to lake charles to fish with Jacon (longcast). This happened right outside of DeRidder. I always carry and so does Josh. I was in right hand lane doing 56 in a 55. Cop right beside me in my "blind spot". I needed to get in the left hand lane to go to a gas station or something. When I sped up to get in the left hand lane, he matched me. I tryed the slow down approach and he matched me again. I slowed all the way down to 42 in a 55 and he slammed on his brakes and pulled behind me to where I couldnt see his headlights. I thought it was some punk and I pulled a punk move myself by "washing his windwhield" with my windshield washer fluid to get him off of me. He hit the blues and pulled me over. He approached my window and before he even introduced himself, I told him that there were 2 pistols in holsters under the flip-up center console. He asked to see them and I took my index finger and lifted the console. He asked my buddy Josh which department he worked for (after Josh told him he was a cop) and Josh told him. He then told me that he pulled me over because I was riding left of center (white line). He asked me where we were going, and I told him fishing in Calcasieu lake. He said, catch enough for everyone and be safe and have a good day. He even thanked me for letting him know I had weapons int he truck. He seemed kind of "scared or shy" after i told him. I used yes sir and no sir and thank you, and I got a warning. I got the officers name and badge # and called the BPSO and let them know that he was very professional and treated me with respect.

I didnt have time to read all 3 pages of comments on this but I did read the first one so Im gonna add my 2cents and this is coming from someone who DOES fight the law and WINS!!(I even had one terminated from the sheriffs dept) Just b/c they have a badge it doesnt give them the right to not respect your rights, but if you dont know your rights they will walk all over you!
First of all you do not have to allow them to search your vehicle! They will tell you that they can search anything within arms reach blah blah blah!IF your vehicle is open and they find something within "arms reach" it can be used in court and not thrown out b/c the vehicles door was open. The best thing you can do when they ask you to step out is to lock the door behind you!!If there is no probable cause then they have no right!Probable cause does no mean b/c he has a suspision! As far as weapons are concerned as long as you are not a felon you can have any kind of gun you would like in your vehicle and no it does not have to be in plain sight! Your vehicle is an extension of your home.
When I was younger some of these local cops thought they could harass me b/c I was always out at all hours of the night.(froggin, runnin trot lines, etc.)I have never done drugs but yet they felt like they could stop me and just search whenever they wanted. After the second time I got tired of it and learned my rights and have not had a problem since! When I was 18 I had one ask why I needed a gun in my truck. Then he proceeded to make up some bs about it not bein legal to ride around with a pistol.I guess sometimes some rookie cops may not know any better but I believe that they try and spill this crap on people who are just to dumb to know or find out the truth!!
Now I walk around and open carry and the same cops who tried to tell me I couldnt stay clear of me.Some of you will ask why I do it and its really simple...b/c ITS MY RIGHT and a right not excercised it a right lost!!
As far as the cop "stealing your knife",I think he just forgot to give it back.Contact them and Im sure you will get it.I had one forget to give my license back and I saw him in Academy the next day,he was extremely corteous and sorry and told me to follow him out to his car to get it.

Just like a breathalizer, either way you goin to jail. Blow above go to jail. Dont blow still go to jail. Even if you are fine and you pass field sobriety test, blow over go to jail.

Somebody else stated that they let them search thier car b/c they have nothing to hide and they want that stuff off the street so they dont hurt anyone.
If someone is completely sober I would say thats obvious right?and if someone is drunk or high thats pretty obvious too right? so if somebodys sober they should be harassed?I agree that is your drunk or high then they SHOULD search your car even if you decline but If your sober and theres no probable cause they need to move on!

and just for the record I dont hate cops or think they are all crooked,I actually have some good friends who are cops and they agree with everything Im saying. A cops job is to protect and serve, not harass! They are public servants paid by the people .

just carry a bunch of ziploc bags filled with flour and if they ask to search you just throw them out the window and say no need to and then drive off. should work out well.

QUOTE=Finfeatherfur;295095]Spoken like a true immature male that thinks he knows the law!!!:*****:[/QUOTE]

immature my ***...i know my rights, and if i dont have to consent, like hell i wont. majority of the time people get "caught" with something it's because they consented to a search. if the officer has probable cause or reason of suspicion, get a warrant, or hell , go at it, and search without one. i have nothing to hide, it's just absurd to consent to a search and have something like this happen, or worst.

you sir, cannot speak on this issue, ol' biased azzs

cops have a job, that my taxes pay for, why in the world would i help a cop do his job to try and incriminate me....GTFOH

also, never roll your window all the way down, and never leave the door open or unlock if told to step out. ..

and if you feel things are getting heated or cop is acting hard assed, video the whole thing for your protection...(i'd just ask to speak to a ranking officer, someone with stripes--that usually takes care of things)
----YES WE KNOW HOW COPS ARE WITH HAM SAMWICHES..esp in n.o
PS my best friend is a cop...

I don't understand what some of y'all are doin to draw so much attention to your selves. I worked on the road all over Louisiana and East Texas 8yrs and on my days off have driven anywhere from Colorado, Florida, Tennessee, Missouri and everywhere between and have had my share of tickets but never once have I been asked if I had drank, done drugs or had anything on me or in my truck. I don't understand but maybe some of y'all should stop and question yourself to why a cop feels the need to even ask you.
