Crabbing at Lambert Bayou 7/3/10

Took my wife, her sister and brother in law crabbing behind the weirs.
Took W's "Weir Super Highway" route.
When we got there, Grand Weirs, the fence across the canal and Lambert Weirs were all packed. So we went farther up into Lambert Bayou and caught a few crabs. My brother in law and I caught some small Flounder while the lady's crabbed, but we didn't keep any. I still got a bunch of Flounder in the freezer from this past fall.
We moved to the canal and didn't catch anything, then when a couple boats left, we moved in closer to the weirs, but not anywhere close to the boats that were packed in the bayou.
We did pretty good there. We ended up with a few short of 4 dozen med. to large crabs and went back home to boil them.
We were able to eat them all, they were all full of meat.

Nice, it's hard to beat some good boiled crabs that were caught that day!

Water was beautiful in the lake. You could see the difference when you came out of the marsh into the lake.

That's what I envisioned for the weirs on the weekends.
Glad you caught some crabs, I might make a run this week.
I usually take the 14' aluminum boat for a weir run,
I don't like taking the bay boat through the concrete lined boat bay.
When the winds are anything more than light, W's superhighway is a rough ride for a short, flat bottom aluminum boat. Sorry I'm a bank beater on those days.

I was thinking the lake would be a little stained with the wind and rain we had.

You could see a couple feet down into the water on the lake side.

The height difference was about 1 ft., the lake side was higher than the marsh side.
The marsh was a little bit more stained. The lake was absolutely beautiful.
