2-13 JB hunt

No pictures I forgot to take a shot or two before they left to clean the ducks. We had a 3 man limit, 4 pintail, 8 Grey's, rest widgeons (spelling). We were done at 8:00 and should have been done early but our shooting was a little off today. Also my dog struggled a little on his first ever hunt, he will get better with time. He did bring back several ducks but long retrieves in deep water today at these temperatures were a little tough for him plus he never saw those particular birds fall. I will be working with him again this afternoon and I plan to take him hunting in the refuge tomorrow morning.

When we were leaving a flock of 8 mallards came in on us followed by three more flocks of grey’s. There were ducks everywhere this morning.

sounds like a great hunt, and the more he retrieves the better he will get.

Good hunt and have patience with the new dog. You have to have time to bond together and have to learn how to handle the dog the way he was trained. The marsh is a different story on a dogs first hunt, totaly different than rice fields. Good luck with him

Agreed, I expected to much out of him. He did not do bad just not great. I will make a hunt with him in the morning and see how it goes then a day off and back to the rice field with him on MLK day.
