Default Tangipahoa hunter killed

A bad situation that could have easily been avoided with basic firearms saftey. Be careful out there fellas.

Hope they do a through investigation of this shooting. My dads friend died like this and so did his brother, it was only then that they figured out that their father killed both of them.

Dad knew he would have never done what the final report said but I believe his dad probably gave the statement. It was 5 or more years later the other brother died, he had life insurance on both and that's what caught him.

I know alot of people here won't agree with me but I think there needs to be some sort of stringent official training before a person can buy a gun. I think back to the stupid stuff I did as a kid, even with the hunter's safety course...and then I went into the Marine Corps and gained a healthy respect for weapons handling.

1. Treat every weapon as if it is loaded.
2. Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot.
3. Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
4. Keep the weapon on safe until you intend to fire.

1-4 my six year old already knows. Does this mean he will remember it while out drinking beer with his buddies one day?...I don't know but, he was taught these 4 things since the first time he held a gun. He doesn't even point his toy guns at people.
