Surf Fishing Grand Isle for Bulls and sharks

The peeps have started to discuss their desire to hit Grand Isle sometime this fall. We're regulars at Holly Beach and Rutherford, but have not yet tried our hand chasing bull reds from the beach at Grand Isle. My impression is that the water gets deeper more quickly there so casting distance is not as critical. Is this right?

Any other tips for chasing bull reds, drum, and sharks form the GI beach?

We like the bridge and also plan to fish the pass in the boat, but there are times when we just like to sit on the beach and relax. All tips and tricks and experiences are appreciated.
