Home Owner Association rules
Kind of a bummer for me. I need a yard and room for 3 vehicles and a boat. Looks like I'll have to find some land and build in order to get what I want. what are you guys doing? paying for boat storage. suffling cars around in the drive way etc? |

Just remember the HOA is protecting your property values. No one wants a neighbor with a boat in the grass in the front yard or a 1972 Chevy Nova up on blocks |

I'll take anyones '72 NOVA they need to get ride of. All I can say is please respect the HOA. They are in place to protect the property value. You are much better off finding a place that has restrictions that line up with your lifestyle rather than trying to get the restrictions to adjust to you.

I understand their purpose. that's why I'm leaning more towards building a home. just hope there is land to build on once I'm ready. Lol lafayette surround areas are growing so fast.

There are some older houses in Youngsville, Broussard, Milton area that have large carports for boat storage. Lots of houses for sale in these areas right now due to oilfield. Both the charter school and Green T are great schools in Youngsville. Milton is really good too.

Funny you brought this up
I too have restrictions, all my toys have to stay in the back yard. Now that we bought our camper home, put in the back yard, Im having a new gate made so I can get my boat out while the camper is there. |

the ones we looked at didn't say we couldn't have a boat in the back yard. just had to buy a corner lot plus take the chance put a wider gate in order to put the boat in the back yard. then wait an see what the hoa would say.

We just moved into a neighborhood on the Southside last week with an HOA. I'm installing a swing hitch on the tongue of my boat to fit in the garage. They also have a house in our neighborhood for sale that was build with a drive through garage for back yard boat access that may fit your needs. PM me if you're interested in more information on the location.

Great way to deal with stress when you have one of those days. I would have a hard time living in a neighborhood. |

If I buy the land/house(witch you never own) I am gonna park what I want where I want, or I wouldn't buy it!! Hoa have gone way to far in places, as to even what flag you can fly and lighted or not what times you can fly it, if at all possible I would move to an area that fits your needs, just remember ( they) can change the rules cause to many people complain and it will be something you fight forever!! Good luck to you and your family but I would stay away from hoa!! Just my two cents.

Waking up 20 mins earlier to take your kids to the school of your choice is not that bad, to not have to deal with the bs that might or might not come of it, just thank long and hard and weigh it all out, so you and your wife happy in the home yall decide on. Good luck. |

IMO it is so much better to buy some land and be able to put anything any place you want it. That's why I bought 4 acres not cuz I needed that much land just to have the room to expand when the time comes. You couldn't give me a free house in a subdivision. Just my 2 cents worth.

The first rule of homeowner association rules, is that you don't talk about homeowner association rules.

I just had a sit down with Manual Builders to get a bid price. I was very impressed with them. If everything goes well when I get back from over seas in October I'll be pulling the trigger on one of their houses on my property. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
