Thats were the guide says they're somewhere that way. So you go over there.

I looked on that site. It says a guide goes out with you in the afternoon and helps you roost a bird. Then you go back in the morning and hunt it up bayousef!

That would work for me. If I had a choice between a mouth call and a gun....I'd take the call any day. Just don't think I could sit there while someone else called my gobbler in.

Salty.....I have hunted with a buddy calling and solo and taken Toms both ways. Both are good. With 2 or more people you can combine hunting knowledge. Sometimes one person will hear a Tom, while the other did not. Also locating direction of the Tom is usually better with 2 hunters. |

That's totally true, Mr. Gerald. You can also sound like more than one hen. I was referring to a guide calling in the bird as opposed to doing it, myself. |

If it ain't the briars....the down trees / tree tops make for some tuff walking. It may take a few more years before you it gets back to "Normal" at Sherburne. OH.....and most of the ditches are full of water this year and you need hip boots to cross them. |

i got a bunch in the hills of st francisville that i usually get 1 out there a year. but with all those hills its tough walking and hard to get a turkey to cross a ridge or 2 to come meet u. i called back and forth with this one and his buddy from daylight to 11am. finally, i had enough and snuck up on him and smoked him with my 10 gauge. |

I just wish the Turkey "season" was longer.
I usually do as much scouting as actually hunting. Have you ever hunted where the woods look like this? In the second pic......I kill a Tom that was by the "V" looking tree. The 2 rd pic.....is the big tree where I was sitting. I could not cross the bayou to get any closer, so I had to get the 2 Toms to come to me. I killed him about 2 hours after first hearing them gobble just after daylight. 21 lbs and 10.5 inch beard. . |

Went out to Sherbune last week to do some scouting. Way too much water. Gonna have to bring a boat if I wanna get on some gobblers out there.

Yes.
You are hunting MY spot? I am not sure if I will be hunting Sherburne this year.......I have had lots of fun chasen the Toms there. It all depends how I do at CC. Going to go scouting at CC in the morning.....it should be a great morning, if the almost full moon does not effect the gobbling. It was fairly light outside before 6 AM this morning due to the moon light. |
