Might be traveling to Jamaica. Probably spearing 25 lbs. or less. If possible would like it to go at least 20 feet. Would like to pay $250.00 or less.

um, I would just go with a JBL. go to your local dive shop and feel a few. get one in the midrange size that feels good to you. work good and reliable.

I seem to always be a little late. Should I be worried about the range very much. Is the accuracy severely hampered over 10 feet even if the gun would have a 20 ft. range?

I had an expensive gun that had 2 wraps of cable and honestly, the extra length was more of a hassle than anything. Sure you got alot more distance but there was so much cable, that junk was tangled up everywhere when trying to reload. if you ever in the BR area go to underwater adventures on govt. street and see what they can do for ya. they rig you up good and for a good price

Hey JO-BOATER... DON'T DRY FIRE IT. IT'LL COME BACK AT YOU! SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS YOUR FIRST ONE, JUST THOUGHT I'D WARN YOU. I didn't want to hear of a bad report. Good Luck with the hunting.

This is the first one I have bought for me. I bought one for my bosses son when we used to scuba dive, but we never did get to shoot it. That was about 8 years ago, and I haven't kept up with the products much. I am not sure how much scuba diving I will continue to do, I seem to be developing a few ear problems from something else so scuba may not be worth the risk. I am considering getting a speargun to use while snorkeling.

What I meant by dry fire was out of the water. The drag in the water will slow it down enough at the end of the line to keep it from coming back at you. On land, unless you have a lot of line, if you shoot it, once at the end of the line the line will sling it back at you. When I was younger.... a lot younger, I saw a friend do it. He didn't get hit, but it was real close. It is fun going out with them around the rigs. Good luck and hope it works out for you.
