Default Lake P Help

Any guys on here that know Lake p. feel like helping out? My sister has been after me for a while now to bring my boat there to fish and I have never been. She finally conviced me to go next weekend. Where should I try and what should I use. Any kind of fish is good with me.

If it is not windy try fishing the train trestle. They have been catching on the north and southshore sides. Throw a 3/8 oz plain jighead with a opening night deadly dudley and you should do fine. Just make sure your bait is on the bottom before you twitch it again

Default Boat Launch

Launch at The Dock. It is at the end of rats nest road, which is right before the highway 11 bridge on the left. Talk to chas when you get there and he will give you some pointers and put you in the right direction

weve been catching trout from the parish line all the way to the trestle. the west side rigs are producing fish, 3/8 jigs and judge ur plastics by water clarity, sand eels work good

3/8 - 1/2 oz jh short shank wide gap. power pro is ok if u use a long fluro leader in 20lb. contact with bottom is a must , more of a drag than a heavy jigging motion . if you feel anything hit your line SET THE HOOK fast . the trout over here are like bass most likely they will not hammer the bait they will just pick it up and swimm off with it so watch for your line to move . if you fish the tressels bring 20 extra jigheads if it your first time you will get hung up and you will lose a bunch of jh's. one you learn how to get hung up you will understand how to not get hung up so do that!!! there are guys trolling baits inlittle jon boats so dont follow em or cross thier line because they will try to fight you. stop in at the dock in slidell and ask for chaz he will help point you in the right direction as far as cleaner water. west winds dont bother going to tressel north wind fish the north end south wind fish the south wind east wind 10-12 and you have a 22 ft boat your fine any more hope you have a extra long shaft on your trolling motor . and just because everyone else if pitching to the pilings dont think thats the only place the fish are

Just put up a post today about fishing Lake Pontchartrain that has some general tips on how to fish the pilings. Most everything that's already been mentioned is right on, but learning how to pop your bait off the bottom and let it fall back with a controlled drop is a key to feeling the notoriously light-biting trout.

Ditto on talking to Chas.

I would launch at marina del ray in Madisonville or Mandeville harbour and fish the causeway if the wind isn't to bad. I've caught 2 fish over 5lbs this week.
