The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission has scheduled the next regular public board meeting for 9:30 a.m. on July 8, 2010, at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries building located at 2000 Quail Drive in Baton Rouge.
If you are upset about how Secretary Barham has been making closures based on emotional fear rather than sound science, please make plans to attend the meeting this Thursday morning if at all possible.
Only four anglers showed up at the last one, and we want a strong presence of anglers so we can all speak with one voice.
The LDWF has not tested ONE toxic fish yet. Fisheries aren't closed for mercury contamination; advisories are made. The vast majority of waters in closed areas are oil-free. Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons make fish taste bad but do not make them toxic.
If only four show up again, nothing will change. The only way to inact change is to make our collective voices heard.
